Litigation Paralegal

La Jolla, CA

A growing and highly respected law firm in La Jolla is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys through all phases of litigation, from case intake through trial and resolution. This role requires a highly organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at client communication, and has extensive experience managing complex litigation matters.

Responsibilities

  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents.
  • Manage cases from inception through trial, ensuring deadlines and court requirements are met.
  • Prepare and coordinate state and federal court filings, including e-filing.
  • Maintain litigation calendars and track all critical deadlines.
  • Coordinate depositions, subpoenas, hearings, and other case-related proceedings.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, providing case updates and gathering information needed for case development.
  • Conduct detailed client interviews regarding sensitive matters with professionalism and empathy.
  • Organize and manage case files, records, and discovery documents within the firm's case management system.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, investigators, litigation assistants, experts, opposing counsel, and court personnel throughout the litigation process.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including exhibit management, witness coordination, and document organization.
  • Mentor and assist in training junior paralegals as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of civil litigation experience.
  • Prior personal injury litigation experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience drafting motions, preparing discovery, reviewing records, scheduling, e-filing, and trial preparation.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal court procedures.
  • Excellent legal calendaring and case management skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong client service and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with case management software preferred.
